I used to do this a lot. Then I went to a Milanese gig a few years back in Falmouth and got schooled! Don't do it any more. Still haven't got round to buy a pair myself (cos I'm slack and broke). Sometimes use the really crappy disposable ones if the system is really loud and distorted but it muffles a lot of the sound. The amount of people that regularly go to the dubstep & DnB nights around here makes me think they are definitely a worth while purchase.

People won't think your a puff for wearing them but in the end, its your hearing, not theres so it doesn't really matter what people think. The people who diss are the people who will be stumbling around the dance, not hearing the music and having to sit down loads cos there balance is fucked from inner ear damage!!

To an extent yes you do missed out .......... but only on the negative points made. By wearing ear plugs you dont & wont miss out on the bass (that 38Hz - 63Hz that shakes out about) so i'll say it again WEAR EAR PLUGS You only have one pair of ears

Do people rate these ear plugs then? If so, reckon I'll order some. For £6, it doesn't matter if they're not amazing as its gotta be better than nowt at all!

they give them out free at some raves...man this is the first ive heard of all this damage to hearing stuff..its quite worrying really..ive been goin raves with big systems for almost a year now. gonna have to start wearing them by the looks of things.

so basically..... you can still feel the bass shaking your body.....just the wobbles and such arent as loud???? right????

I have lost much of my high end from rock gigs I have attended and have only just started going to dubstep gigs. A recent gig (Coki/Loefah/Excision) with a monster of a soundsystem really did a number one me. I was in bed after the gig trying to get to sleep and my ears were not really ringing (high pitch) but were doing the opposite, the low frequencies were oscillating in ears for about 30 seconds at a time every 10 minutes or so, I guess it was their swan song. I am definitely looking into earplugs for the future.

Couldn't get them in my local Boots, typical. Are they easy to wear/comfortable? I'm paranoid about shoving stuff in my ears (can't use in-ear earphones)

bought some earplugs the other week. Feels weird at first but its so nice to come out from a club/gig and have perfect hearing.

My ears are fuckin mangled thru years of abuse, got ear plugs but always forget em lol.
