Production wise im not too bad i would say, the "finished tracks" thread for me is somewhere i can share what i know and also get peoples thoughts on mine. Obviously there are quite a few newbies posting in there but this month specially there has been plenty of listening and reviewing. Ive reviewed like 12 tracks myself with the idea of doing more. I like rolling through the threads, hearing peoples ideas and offering pointers where i can. I like to post there because although ive listened to dubstep a fair bit, im still quite new to producing it. So in terms of structure and progression etc im just "jammin" in the sutdio at the moment. Its nice to see what people think, what ideas work. What the boundaries are for genres and seeing what i can do to mix it up without venturing off the path too much :P.
Dub section does not really give me any of these advantages and until i have re-established my name a bit i reckon ill continue to post in the finished tracks thread.
Not a fan of the part finished tracks, clips that are posted in there for promo reasons though. They are not looking for contructive feedback infact the tend to always have an answer to your thoughts rather than taking them on board. That could do with stopping. I post all my tracks up for download and of course, sits well with me if people like my track enough to dl it and chuck it in there playlists no?

Feedback forums should stay but maybe you could structure it a bit better.

How about a feedback subforum. It's been mentioned before and there was not that much enthousiasm.

But it does have advantages:
- being easier to navigate
- looks tidier
- easier to see who responded to what track
- folow ups in the same thread (like when you improve a tune you can post it back in the same thread)
- easier to mod?

another thing i would like is a way to bookmark thread, so i can log in and see thread i'm following. I use my browser now for this. Maybe it's already possible but i don''t know

I'm sorry guys but concerning feedback threads/sub forums..

If you lot all took this to dubs and gave eachother feedback that way - that is essentially your sub forum! Sure, you might get load of "Yeah, sick tune, 320?" requests but if a group of you started doing it, more would do it! When I first came onto this board - this is what dubs section was like so if we use our powers as a community we can get it back that way. Theres no point starting a-fresh when theres a place we can change, right?

This is the last thing i'm saying about this topic.. People say mods need to be more ruthless, well this is the start :).

The feedback threads will stay in production on a monthly basis but I advise people to start changing Dubs section and making it a more producer-friendly environment cause I ain't starting Dubs version 2.0.

Ok, but can we post WIPs in dubs?

Edit: still can't find bookmark feature, only notify in the Post reply menu. Under the button it only has the thread title..

Like I said the feedback threads will stay, the finished and wip's threads.

ANd - change your board skin

User Control Panel > Board Preferences tab > My Board Style > Sub Silver2

Then, you will get the bookmark option, the default skin is useless :P.

I would like to see less locking of threads. Locking the Kode9 one was kinda dumb. Maybe it's just me, I thought the point of moderation was to allow discussion to occur without obstructions and hindrances, but when it becomes an obstruction itself, I lose my interest in coming here or discussing things.

there's a certain list of producers you can talk smack about without getting a thread locked
obviously kode 9 is not on that list
:6:
(but seriously it's a favorites game)

it turned into a flame war and also, there was 4 malware alerts on that thread - ive locked others (and moved) what pop up with malware, even those what are length discussions.

If you call me tryna stop you lot from getting a virus or malware bombed (while risking my own setup...) favourtism, then gosh darn.

*rolls eyes* you narf know how to push someones patience deadly. Stop being so bitter and maybe your suggestions will lactually be taken more than just a rant and with a pinch of salt.

more/new mobs would be my top one bh
but a way of setting up an RSS feed for new topics/replies would be cool too

and on the topic of sub forums we might aswell have a subforum subforum just to keep it all neat and tidy...

Definitely 2nd the idea of a DJ oriented section, complete with buyer's guides, techniques, tuts, etc.

you need a thicker skin seriously
you had the deadmau5 thread which was a flamefest that went on for ages, skrillex, brostep ones etc
and the kode 9 one which wasn't even that bad (flame war) locked
pick a standard and stick to it, don't just lock some and let other go
and more than likely the "malware" is coming from a link or someone's sig so why not pinpoint and let them know lock that out
:4:

how am i bitter -w-

I didn't see anything like a flame war in there, but I didn't know there was a malware problem. In that case, I agree with it being locked (although the malware should also be removed by someone who knows how to find that stuff, since I would guess "Kode9" is a fairly common search term on here).
