Just got my new MacBook Pro today.
Dual core 2.33, 2 GB ram. This thing is quick as a flaming bollock.
My previous Powerbook lasted me 6 years and was used every day. I recorded 3 EPs on it, did a lot of graphic work and it's is only just showing signs of failing this week. Thought I'd better be safe than sorry.
Macs just run and run.

if you click with two fingers touching the touchpad, you get a right-click
if you hold down command and click, you get a middle-click

I use PCs (Cubase) and Macs (Logic) to produce. The only thing i will say though is that the PC is strictly studio. I am so careful about installing shit and im constantly worried about it fucked up.
The Mac is everything, i dont care its rock solid and nothing can fuck it up.
If you got the money Macs all the way.

Oh and the macbook is just as good as a macbook pro when it comes to processing power in the studio. Only downside is the size of the screen. Just be sure to get plenty of memory.
I use a macbook with logic 7 - but i output onto a 24inch widescreen LCD and i have a firewire outboard sound card.
