the reason we get the people we do is cos local promoters knowingly take on gigs that will lose money. this image of promoters as greedy fat cats rolling on mountains of money and ticket stubs is just wrong.

most of the time it'd be cheaper for me to fly somewhere pay the ticket price, stay in a nice hotel, get a few hookers & some coke and wile out on the bar than put the gig on

Be transported into a true circus vibe, featuring a massive sound system which will allow you to levitate on bass weight, full array lighting which will transport the senses through a kaleidoscope of color and imagery revealing extraordinary worlds of fantasy. Stand in awe as a dazzling ariel artist performs a perilous, anatomically unimaginable one-arm speed-spin high atop the arena floor, and two formidable, bass canons will be blasted through the air. Most I've ever paid or a dubstep night was £15 and that was with multiple big name djs or even a couple rooms of big name djs.

I've paid £45 for an iron maiden ticket though. Don't see how a random brostep night thinks it should cost more for entry than a fucking iron maiden stadium show.

I feel your pain about the Circus show in Denver. I'd go if it wasn't a) expensive b) 16+ c) in some huge arena.. Denver has a huge 'tard fanbase and I'd rather not be in the middle of a preteen cuddle pile while borgore plays.

Count your blessings though! We just saw Appleblim for 10 freaking dollars..one of the best nights sub.mission has put out. Same w Ramadanman/Zed Bias. Just gotta wade through some shit to find the goodies

EDIT: LOL its co-sponsored by Triad..I hope they play some melodic trance at setbreak :corntard:

10 dollars? I feel bad for America. We had free entry at Subheavy when appleblim played last year

5 pounds this year with appelblim and distance and alpha steppa too.

Skrillex and Benga played in our local gig scene for £14 and £16 (i think) respectively.

Pretty decently priced, i thought.

Ooooooooooooofff!

I am with the crew who refuses to pay more than a tenner for a gig.

I would make an exception if the sound system was a system I know will be worth paying that much money for... I don't go to nights because of DJ's as much as sound systems because even my favourite artist on a shit system isn't fun times.

everyone is all too willing to slag americans for this, remember that those artists have to be flown over here, whereas they most likely live in your backyard if you're a brit

no shit, you get to see insane lineups every week for hardly any money, because the artists don't require a thousand dollar plane ride to get them to the gig

not to mention they're all concentrated onto a small island and thus attendance is fairly automatic

If the US was as densely populated as the UK it'd be a different story.... UK population density is about 8 times that of the US.

yeah you can't really compare it either way. think of it like this, you guys over seas get to see skream, benga, youngsta, and coki get rinsed to hell, while our comparison over here is 12th planet, flylo, and GLK.....not taking away anything from these dj's they are all amazing, but it just doesn't comparee

Though I reject being called an 'American' (a grossly vague, and geographical ignorant term) I saw Distance for free when he was still a vinyl only DJ--which meant Changes remix, Tell Me Remix along with almost never played Deleted Scenes tracks. I even met him and chatted about CHST008 after his set. But it goes without saying that this is rare occasion as, in my opinion, 99% of the 'talent' that passes through here is not worth the electricity they consume much less the cover charge they expect.

As a music fan I just laugh at the absurdity of it all; as an entrepreneur all I have to say is: let the Market decide what their worth is. I've been to a 18+ night and was just left wondering if the human genome had been so severely altered to justify the inept things that came out of their mouth, as well as their behavior. (I later fell into dread as I began to feel old despite being only a few years older than them.) If it sells out and they obtain their goals, projected profit margin, good for them; I'd still remain steadfast in the belief that they are grossly overvalued, and that their talent is only targeted to what has become the largest demographic: moshers/bro-steppers et. al. who likely still have access to their parents wallets. So its not like it was a difficult task to begin with as they comprise the majority of the theoretical Market share; what I would be surprised to see and would consider a greater achievement is that if you looked at their phones/ipod things and found anything but youtube rips and the like.

It goes without saying that the UK overwhelmingly exceeds the entire World as far as nights/events go. Then again, that is to be expected considering it is and has been a UK genre, therefore its a likely outcome that it would gravitate and remain there.

in case people have forgotten, smog and scion have been throwing free shows in hollywood, they use to be booking all dubstep up until recently

among the acts ive seen FOR FREE......ACTRESS, IKONIKA, DISTANCE, MRK1, STARKEY, 12TH PLANET, MARY ANNE HOBBS, PLASTICIAN!

but they have booked much more high profile names for free as well that were at the roxy before i started going to shows, among some other names

SKREAM, JOKER, ZOMBY!, 16BIT, EXCISION, NERO, UNTOLD

as of now they haven't been booking any dubstep at the roxy....im amussuming prices are too high now to afford to throw em for free

thread is completely misleading . it says 106.50 for VIP, which usually includes some kind of bottle service, and a VIP area thats roped off

general admission to the show was $43.50 ...
