what are the levels like on the master fader, if they are going above zero, then when you bounce everythng gets cut off at zero and nothing goes above it, so on logic it will sound louder. other than that i dont know why it would sound louder on logic than it does when bounced. if its well below 0 then if anything normalizing should make it louder as it brings the highest point up to 0db.

Yep i use logic 9 and its in the Mastering Presets, I put that on when I bounce out my tracks so that I dont get any clipping, its probably a horribly wrong way to do it but it works for me. Heres a link I took a picture of my logic session:

Oh well thats probably in Logic Studio 9, or at least Logic Pro 9.
Logic Pro 9 has a few features that Logic Express 9 doesn't, namely a few effects such as space designer.
That may be one that logic pro has that express doesn't?

sorry came off as a bit of a dick in my last post. The problem isnt Logic, its exactly the same as any other DAW, its how you are using it.

If you are clipping on your master, and then bounce, the loudest a digital music file can go once rendered is 0db. Logic has an internal headroom much larger than 0db so you can push it far into the red before you hear any distortion. if its clipping (going into the red) and in the bounce settings you have normalise, it will turn what was over > 0db to under 0db and the overall volume will be dropped.

The bottom line is if its coming out much quieter than expected, make sure your not clipping your master, turn off normalise in the bounce window, and if you want some extra vol, add the adaptive limiter to the master, but don't push it too hard as you will kill its dynamics.

Ok so a lot of my drums are going into the red, and I'm compressing them, but I don't like putting a limiterbon them because then they go way too low and lose their punch, so because I'm not limiting them, they're peaking.

normalizing is a useless endeavour in a 24bit world, and if something is clipping it's already being limited.

Just bring down the volume level fader. And do the same for all other mixer tracks until your track sounds the same but at a lower volume.
