"you're only new once" applicable
everything you hear that is new to you is obviously gonne be exciting, but expecting an artist, or group of artists within a genre, to produce mind bendingly new material to quench your thirst for the next new sound is a little unrealistic to be perfectly honest. New sounds are awesome, but I don't expect to hear them everyday. This coming from an avid lover of all kinds of music. At the end of the day, I just like a well constructed song, regardless of genre, but hey thats just me.

i still enjoy it, do find myself drawing for old tunes a lot more now though these days, producers bringing out quality new stuff doesnt seem to be as common which is a shame, a fair few have moved on to some next faddy genre that nobody will give a fuck about by the end of next year

There are still good nights in my local scene so I am still listening to it plenty. The trap thing shows its head at most of the nights though. The electro house scene is probably the strongest here in perth so i've moved in that direction more and more. It's funny how the more I have heard the more tear out interpretations of the genres they have slowly grown on me.. taken a good four or five years but i can honestly say I still enjoy the dubstep being released today.

I still listen to it, all kinds. I don't think there is a "type" of dubstep I don't like. There is definitely some bro/youtubeshit that is really pushing it, but something about a 2-step beat in electronic music that just has me captivated.

Also listen to all kinds of house, new and old drum & bass, pretty much love all electronic music except for super-duper poppy progressive house (if you can call it that) and hardstyle (something about the drums and synths they use make me cringe). And trap can be fun sometimes, but for the most part it's hard to enjoy as a producer I think.

KavemanM wrote:I don't know about you guys but I am like really into that ChillStep like Mt.Eden is probably the best thing out there in the genre.
But you know I can't always listen to Chillstep and heavy brutal Dubstep.
I am also a Hip hop junkie, Tupac and Biggie by far the greatest.
Only good thing you said was about pac and biggie. Mt Eden is garbage and I'm not really sure what chillstep is but i'll take future garage over that shit anyday

What he said.

Plenty of awesome 'real' dubstep still coming out....add to the list: kaiju, killawatt, wayfarer, gantz, etc.

^^^ see thats why we dont listen to dubstep anymore :corntard:

to whoever said "you're only new once", true dat and the sad thing is that a lot of the classics i used to love aren't any good songwriting-wise so now that the novelty has worn off the only thing keeping me listening to them from time to time is nostalgia.

what people should do instead of jumping on to the next hype is saying to themselves "okay, the novelty is gone, the sonic niche has been carved and explored, now let's get serious" and start writing proper tunes you can listen to from start to finish, that are engaging, have a vibe and would make a proper musician nod in approval.

This post makes the most sense in the whole thread. The genre has difined itself and been explored...now write some listening music!

Dubstep is still a new genre to me so of course I still listen too it. I've always listened to edm but up until 2 years ago when I started making music (metal) I had no idea what this shit was. I thought it was the sounds of the singularity coming to rape my brain!

I have no idea who 99% of the artists people on these forums talk about are, and really couldn't give less of a shit. If I hear a good tune, then fuck it, it's a good tune.

People just need to lighten the up. It's music. It's meant to be fun and enjoyable don't take it so fucking serious.
