I'm quite a fan of Bring me the Horizon, Suicide Silence, Annotations of an Autopsy, Job for a Cowboy, Ted Maul....
Anyone else?
I have a scar on my finger from the bassist from Annotations of an autopsy's tooth after I punched him in the face. 100% true story. Good band though. PS TED MAUL>>>>>>>>>

Wouldn't call Siege 'powerviolence'. They were just an extreme punk band that was equally important to both grind and powerviolence. Powerviolence started with the band Infest in 1987 and was coined by Eric Wood from Man Is the Bastard in the early '90s. Slow/fast dynamics and stuff started with Infest, but Capitalist Casualties and Crossed Out popularized it. I guess Spazz took it to another level.
Grindcore already existed back in '83/'84 with bands like Lärm and Cyanamid. It's funny because the underground thrash (not thrash metal) movements was actually started by the Beastie Boys. They played punk with blast beats before even D.R.I. did. Sadly, people only recognize the metallic stuff as grindcore these days while some grindcore bands even _hate_ metal. It was all punk until some bands started adding metal into the mix and Earache Records popularized the metallic stuff.
I'm really into more recent powerviolence bands like XBRAINIAX lately.
Anyway, as far as metal goes, I've mostly been listening to Velvet Cacoon, Acid Bath, Weakling, Strid, Drudkh, Amesoeurs and Wrath of the Weak lately.
Acid Bath sorta stands out I guess, being the only sludge band on that list.
I listen to a lot more metal, though, just, lately, I've gotten sorta caught up in breakcore, gabber and jungle. I picked up my guitar again the other day and I played some Cryptopsy songs... I've gotten rusty.
Seeing Cephalic Carnage soon.. and Obituary soon after.
The song I am currently working on, a breakcore track, samples Ulver. Got caught up in drum programming that I haven't posted here in a while.

I vastly prefer Blake Harrison's other band, Pig Destroyer. No fuck that, I
worship Pig Destroyer. They're so shamelessly brutal, it's disgusting. I wouldn't call them grindcore like 90% of the population seems to do. Way too metallic. They're like a mix of the Melvins and 'Darkness Descends' era Dark Angel with a dose of hardcore punk. Excellent.
Though I know that Hatebeak's obviously a joke band and all.
