this is the age of stupid genre names. funky and wonky are both pretty terrible but people in glass houses shouldn't throw stones. dubstep isn't exactly the best genre name in the world now is it?

"funky" is in a whole different league imo. ive never thought dubstep was that bad a name. its like calling dubstep "dubby". if it stuck to funky house it would be alright

lol true

although the name that seems to have stuck with most is "uk funky", so the process of funky house becoming uk funky as it got a harder, rawer sound isn't that dissimilar to the name change that resulted as house and speed garage got mutated and became known as "uk garage" or two step

sorry bout this but this is more like fidget house as we already speeking bout funny genre names. The stuff i heard rememberd me of the stuff Crookers made alot. wobble bass with a house beat.

Real funky house is to me stuff like : kid creme, joey youngman, digital villains, weS! stuff like that

which is exactly why this genre has sprouted an offshoot. this isn't funky house, it's uk funky.

You cant call a genre funky! its an adjective for gods sake. the music isn't even particularly funky.
Also funk is already a genre! Musicians are supposed to be creative, make up a proper name!

Funk is all about the breaks and the snare too. Don't really hear it in this music?
Think it's just a few people trying to start a new genre so they can be hailed as the creators of a genre which, in essence, is just house.
Why not call it Funky house + singing?

Why is it a catagory in dubstep forum?!?!
i carnet see the real relevance of this to dubstep at all, i defiantly dont think it should be in the forum. i did like apples beats but thats about it... in general i was pretty disappointed....

well i was going to say the genre should be renamed by the genre gods as "sexy"

while i still think that is a kick ass genre/scene/movement/fucking revolution name i could do with just calling it "sex"

cause the shit is damn sexy. they always have some sultry dame beltin out some serious numbers over a very dance able (your right though, not a very particularly funky) percussion and bass line

Never particularly liked the latin beats
but funky's just beginning and
if some of the brazilnut ds crew get the subby in there
or it picks up a south Carib influence,
retains the dance attraction for fems,
avoids r & b/ disco schmaltz and histrionics,
mate, could be a goer.

i like quiet alot of this
keep it sub heavy and with weird noises and its a goer imo
in context of course, a whoel night would do my head in but amongst other genres

Anyone got links to some decent mixes of this genre?

Prefer the deeper more tribal stuff to the R&B type stuff.

Feeling it personally.

Oldskool Garage kinda feel to it with slower/more housey drums.
