That's their problem and not mine or yours, surely.Pete wrote:Not necessarily, but i agree that too many digital labels don't have a profile that is strong enough.dj ld wrote:Thats part of the problem with digital. Vinyl acts as a quality control.
Yes, Illuminati Dubstep producers are controlling the whole dubstep scene.. errSurface_Tension wrote:Mastering costs about the same regardless of whether it's for digital or vinyl in most cases. If you're going to a good house, it's not going to make a whole lot of financial difference either way. There aren't too many producers making tunes, there are too many Jukeboxes playing tunes and getting paid on the backs of the producers making the tunes.Deadly Habit wrote:format has nothing to do with quality control, sales do.
How this has anything to do with the format is beyond me. Let me go and check out the top 20 of any "reputable" shops and we'll see that they are consistently the anointed few "taste makers" and the tunes are getting regressive at this point. So if the question is whether or not we have too many producers, we should ask ourselves if maybe the producers that need to disappear are the ones who just can't make good tunes anymore.
I hear a lot of great unreleased stuff every day. If we're talking quality control, I use a different stick than vinyl/digital... I prefer to look at the name of the producer on the release... if they are "big" they probably aren't doing anything new.
thread over.

Might be a bit of a stupid question but whats the difference between a dubstep producer and a dubstep artist?Tranquera wrote:Too many producers indeed... Very few artists...
means anyone can produce a shit but it takes an artist to paint a picturejbird22 wrote:Might be a bit of a stupid question but whats the difference between a dubstep producer and a dubstep artist?Tranquera wrote:Too many producers indeed... Very few artists...

Abs wrote:yeah its what happens these days, at least it's not as bad as all these 12 year old 'grime producers' with a demo of fruityloops on their dads laptop thinking theyre the badman.
maybe you shouldnt judge a book by its cover, i mean. i have 4 releases in the betsellers list almost all the time. that speaks for itself. who cares if u like the art or track names. if the tunes is sick, thats all that matters. or did you even bother to listen? you sound closed minded and not willing to step outside your comfort zone. maybe you feel threatened?soundbwoy wrote:yo there's too many man, too many many man

it's loads worse than 12yr old grime producers anyway, 12yr old grime producers don't set up labels and perpetuate the mediocrity. Anyway, cut the brehs some slack if they're 12yr old, it's the one's who are old enough to know better who should step down!
And I play both CDJs and vinyl, I buy both digital and vinyl, but I'm not gonna pretend 90% of the shit stuff is coming out on digital labels.
I don't even need to listen to half the stuff on digital-tunes anymore; anyone else noticed the complete giveaway that is:
a) completely retarded "artist" names
b) completely retarded album titles
c) completely retarded song titles
d) completely retarded artwork
by retarded I mean either like complete scifi geek-out wankery, insertnameherestep, something "scary" or "dark", or even worse, completely unrelated adjectives like "filthy". You wot!? This is dubstep, not electro-house!!!
And for f*cks sake, most of the artwork on digital-tunes could have been made by my sister on paint. Literally. If any of you shit digital labels want to pay me Ps I will load up photoshop right now and do a better job of designing your labels "image" and promoting some sort of "integrity" or "identity".
