Hahah each to their own! I seen your review of the pixies in the paper yesterday - I'm sure plenty of ppl would say the same thing about indie music loljoe muggs wrote:I respect anyone's attempts to find their way to an original way to express themselves, and it's always good when people don't want to be constrained by artificial genre boundaries in their desire to follow the creative urge.
However....
Fuck trance.
haha this is great. there are some good artists that people classify as "IDM", i.e. autechre, aphex, venetian snares, and other big names in the game etc., but i agree a large majority of it is extremely boring and abstract on purpose. well put - modern art in a musical form.rob sparx wrote:Hahah each to their own! Don't even get me started on IDM - what the fuk is that all about, 99% atonal chinstoking wank like modern art in a musical form

The only one of those artists I would classify as IDM is Autechre...and their live act isn't even remotely intelligent.signals wrote:autechre is sickcosmic revenge wrote:haha this is great. there are some good artists that people classify as "IDM", i.e. autechre, aphex, venetian snares, and other big names in the game etc., but i agree a large majority of it is extremely boring and abstract on purpose. well put - modern art in a musical form.rob sparx wrote:Hahah each to their own! mmmmm thats some tashty narrowmindness, a bit of salt and i'll be a happy man. eliteness, woop!deamonds wrote:trance is soooo shit.
You havent experienced the full amount of shitness until you have walked past Es Paradise in Ibiza & heard it blaring, along with all the knobs in fluorescent yellow & ridiculously long spiked hair, flailing their arms with glow sticks outside. Thank god twice as nice was @ Eden that night.

Hahah, IDM...You mean that genre of music where anti-social geeks keep pushing random notes on a keyboard hoping to get something musical outta it? Aphex Twin is such a lunatic.rob sparx wrote:Hahah each to their own! Well...that sounds as stupid as saying "this track isn't trance since it doesn't put me into a trance"...It's a genre's name, get over it. We all know you can also make intelligent EDM and not be an IDM producer. Not sure I wanna go into a debate about it though, specially since you seem to think that Richard D. James and Aaron Funk aren't intelligent producers O_o... Intelligent shouldn't necessarly mean "experimental to the point of not being danceable".The only one of those artists I would classify as IDM is Autechre...and their live act isn't even remotely intelligent.
your point totally escapes me..i dunno maybe its much more different over in ireland compared to england.....unless your trying to be sarcastic...akilles wrote:init.deepsteppa wrote:mmmmm thats some tashty narrowmindness, a bit of salt and i'll be a happy man. eliteness, woop!deamonds wrote:trance is soooo shit.

i went to ibiza over summer. for the trance. and it was really good.
why not go to any club in london for twice as nice than go to ibiza?
and to be honest you get knobs in flourescent's at dubstep nights pretty much everywhere except dmz and fwd et al.
Well, considering I had been to defected @ Space & Swedish House Mafia @ Pacha the 2 nights before, I fancied an lighter night, with no fucking overhyped trance fraggle’s all moving there hands/jaws in my face like stnuc.akilles wrote:init.deepsteppa wrote:mmmmm thats some tashty narrowmindness, a bit of salt and i'll be a happy man. eliteness, woop!deamonds wrote:trance is soooo shit.
