What hardware comp have you got?
I'm assuming if UAD have signed up with Manley they will do a Vari-Mu. The T Bar modded version would be sick but I'm not holding my breath.

Never underestimate UA. Trust me on that.
For HW compression I use a few bits;
Avalon 747 for frequency-conscious comp, for tonal control. Like de-essing, but it can do it anywhere in the spectrum pretty much. So if one jangly piano note sticks out it can pull that into line nicely. Often in dubstep it's the 1-2kHz dub delay feedback that KILLS your ears getting tamed.
Main compressor is the Summit DCL200. It is the silkiest, tightest, most glorious thing. It's just a fucking compressor, end of story. It does exactly what it says on the tin and it sounds wonderful (!!!) doing it. No fancy bollocks, takes about 10 seconds to set up and sounds the NUTS.
Also have a tfpro p38 policing the end of the chain to pull stuff into line, but I'm in the process of selling this and will probably stump up for an API 2500 at some point.
UAD have a lot to answer for...

Cool bro. I'll have to check out that Summit. Haven't heard anything on that one.
If I was gonna get a new comp a 2500 would def be on the list. Behind a UBK modded fatso.
I just got an API A2D. Gotta love that API sound.
