You mean to tell me that 16 Bit and Untold are different genres?!?!?!?!?
I prefer ragga-breakcore-junglestep myself.
Also a bit of techgarage-twostep-newravestepstep.

I like when 16 bit does non-cack stuff.

IM SURE, there is no other music that takes pride in describing a tune as 'filth' or 'granny-raping dirty shiiiiiit' its a real shame, in my eyes, that this is a complimentary way to describe dubstep (or any music)- alot of dubstep has lost its melodic, meditational value.
i dont get depressed about it, i just listen to pangea & trg instead

I dont undersatnd why you want to subgenre everything, i would rather djs play a bit of everything rather than just playing 1 type of dubstep.
Its like this bassline 4x4 shiz, it ok for 1/2 an hour but after that you have heard enough of it to last you a week coz its all very similar.
It was better when djs would ,mash up differnt types of garage rather than just play 1 subgenre all set or in some cases all night.
Subgenres killed garage, and broke it up into loads of seperate scenes
Same with jump up DnB if you listen to just jump up its get very boring very fast.
I would rather djs mix up differnt styles of dnb together rather than just play pure jump up or pure tech tracks.
A bit of everything is always better.

This. Except it's already happening.
Even without the subgenres "officially" set in stone, I'm hearing a lot of mixes with just 1 style.

was getting a little sick of that sound myself

Probably because it was Richie August throwing down 10 Richie August type tracks in a row.

whats wrong with letting people do what the fuck they want

Well it was bound to happen. It was one of those things that drove me from DNB. Everyone's sets sounded like one record played over and over again for an hour. I wouldn't want to hear Breakage and Untold for an hour anymore than Excision and Datsik. Take people on a trip with your sets is where it is at. We have so much variety within Dubstep and even stuff outside the genre that can be played. It can be really interesting!
These threads are really getting boring tho.
I don't like what I don't like!

I hate these fucking whining threads.
no body is forcing you to listen to certain sounds... listen to what you like!
Yeah but if I wanna go see dubstep, and the flier says dubstep, and it's "filth" shit, I don't wanna be there.
It's a different crowd really.
Yong your like 16 bruv, so your not going to many shows are you.
Seeing that your part of a radio station that thrives on the filth this thread is a bit silly no?

this midrange wobble metallic stuff is like the nu metal of dubstep. it will have its time and place and then it will fuckin disappear. i can't wait til that day comes. just my 2 cents! all you folks that like it, continue doin what youre doin.
with that said, there are a few tunes that get the proper time put into them in this "subgenre" that will grab my attention, but most of it has a feeling to it that it was thrown together in an hour or 2.

the problem isn't what music is called. the problem is that 75% of the producers out there would rather follow people than take roads on their own. this music got worldwide recognition from being experimental, not being cookie cutter..connect the dots...copycat...bass music. if producer A,B,C and D are all making basslines one way, why the hell would you take the same road as them? because its safe? because you want attention?
if you want attention, let your music demand attention. this is a global sound. the production and skill level for those at the top get's higher everyday. make sure that the music you're letting out to the world is as skillful and different than everything you hear being released right now. otherwise, what's the point? when there's global attention on one sound, its bound to be hard to get heard. those thinking its an easy road need to rethink what they're doing and why they're doing it. as silkie said a while back, "there isn't some noah's ark thats going to leave the dock, and leav you behind." this music is here to stay and open to everyone, just be very smart about where you want to go, how you get there and how much work you're willing to put in.

Totally. In case anyone doesn't actually go out, listen to mixes or read forums, dubstep is already loads of different scenes. Pretending that actually Caspa plays a load of Martyn tunes and Dusk and Blackdown are repping 16 Bit. There are fucking constant threads on hear with people saying "all this wobble shit is killing dubstep" vs "all this chin strokey shit isn't dubstep because you can't SKANK YOUR COCK OFF to it..."
Everyone's been paranoid about doing the dnb thing where you have a new subgenre every twenty minutes, which would be pretty stupid, but not much more stupid than pretending that we're all one big happy family who are on the same vibe when we very obviously aren't. It's like, seperating neuro-techstep from techy-neurostep may have been a bit silly, seperating jungle from happy hardcore probably wasn't...

threads like this are a joke...
"i know whats best... i know
what people should listen to...
anything i dont like is shit...
i invented music in 1607...
your killing dubstep....
look at me... look at me... etc.."
mature a little... learn about
the nature of subjectivity...
and if all else fails let the baby
have its bottle...
we all listen to differnet shit deal
with it...

That's the point he was making afaict.
Not "don't listen to it", just "don't claim it's part of the same thing."

Age is a bit irrelevant.
And yes, as of recent, dubstep.fm thrives on filth.
I'm not exactly involved with the station as much as I was at one point.
EDIT: I was not expecting 4 pages.

I made this thread on an impulse after raging at some youtube video.
