Seen james blake a few times, both solo and alongside mount kimbie....liking this new pop direction, it a fresh take although i do prefer his earlier stuff.

Ive been really into this tune as of late, its a remix of toro y moi.....really nice post-indie-soul step or whatever......just good music. Check!!!

Caught his dj set last week. Was great to hear some of his new dubs and limit was heavvvvvy. But I dont know if he was having an off night or what but the mans mixing skills are very poor

dont really make much dubstep these days.....but i made something along the same veins ish of this thread. This is getting released in a few months time with 3 other tracks and a remix.

x50, but most of the synth in that tune was from my old trusty microkorg and bit form my micron. Alesis micron is the shit! nightmare to programme but you get a lot for your money!

am I the only one who thinks 'limit' is the most boring thing he's done?

it's pretty much the least innovative track he's made. i don't get the hype around that track, it's essentially just a conventional cover of an acoustic song with a verse that has subbass. yawwwwwwn.

mate - ii think you missed something out?!

i dunno, i dunno.

i've got a lot of love for his tunes but that one just sticks out as being creatively... bland, i guess. i mean, it's good as a moody soul tune, but i don't understand why it's being treated as a 'crossover' apart from the 60hz bass. it's generically quite conventional, unlike his previous stuff, which is genuinely all over the place. it doesn't feel like a dubstep crossover, it feels like a 60s soul ballad.

it just seems a bit anticlimactic: he blew up on the scene for basically coming out of nowhere with the most experimental sound/production for ages, and has very quickly (he must have had, what, 4 12s out or something? maybe less?) shifted into quite a standard soul-singer aesthetic. which is totally fine - he's obviously got mad talent - but it's not as envelope pushing. the whole thing reminds me of how jamie lidell used to be the most experimental singer/producer of the time ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FBhcaDqaS9E ), then started making quite 'standard' motown soul quite randomly ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oeSh805ekR0 ).

to be fair i've not heard it on a big rig and i'm going to check out his album, i think this new sound is probably much better suited to that format than his early sound

Personally not such a great fan of his music, I love the idea of what he's doing, and respect him for doing so well with it, just not my kinda instrumentals tbh.

Then again, I wasn't in the optimal state of mind, or even listening on a particularly good system at the time so opinions may change

Anybody heard Beardyman's version? It's quite funny.
