It's not a theory or doctrine of his, it's an accusation.
that's a slightly odd definition in wikipedia. whose accusation? keyesianism is (roughly) using government spending to get the economy going. if you do it with military spending, it's military keynesianism. nothing to do with whether keynes advocated military keynesianism (he didn't, as stated).
Yeah it's a blatant slander against Keynes to define It that way.

He didn't advocate it and it is simple indeed to say that keynesianism is using government spending to get the economy going, but still, the term applies. Whatever you name it, US still relies on waging wars to maintain the economy and that was my point :W:

True but what about people who want to host a file legally? They shouldn't have to suffer because other members upload copyrighted material.
exactly. how many legal music files and mixes disappeared today? what will disappear tomorrow?

I might be jumping to conclusions.

This furore between the government and file sharing websites may go further then just stopping people from downloading music and may go further then attempting to censor certain things. The internet is like a well lit street and anything contentious to the government is there for everyone to see, if they wanted to censor it they could but its easier to wage a war of disinformation.

What they may want to do is stop the sharing of data and information privately. Its hard to monitor everything that comes in and out of file sharing and p2p websites and people such as whistle blowers or cyber terrorists could harness this to send clandestine and subversive data to each other.

Hardly, its only an idea.

The American government are more intelligent then people seem to let on. Often they do something and people ridicule them and point out the obvious pitfalls but several years down the line their true intentions start to emerge.

Its pretty clear that civilisation has changed in the past 20 years and the landscape we live in is radically different to any at any other period of time, and this is going to cause a lot of problems. Governments around the world probably have and are still preparing for something, who knows what. This is may well be part of the preparation.

In a sense, we are already living in the dystopia we were warned of last century.

I agree, the US do some messed up things.
I wouldn`t put it past them to disconnect the interwebz to avoid the Anarchist's Cookbook from being downloaded again

Well, look at what happened last year. Wikileaks and the Bradley Manning case. A massive data leak. Anonymous have hacked into confidential e-mails and can seemingly pull peoples information from anywhere.

It's just an idea. Who knows what the motives are and what will happen.

The dystopia isn't exactly as described but its definitely there.

Bradley was an idiot and was caught because of his own hubris. While many can make the case what he did was noble, it's still treasonous. Hardly a dystopic government crackdown on innocent people.

This could be an opportunity. Seeing as the justice department is making this a criminal case, they have to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that piracy leads to lost sales. There are dozens of reports, including government ones that provide evidence against that, it wouldn't be hard to make the defense's case. Could set a precedent.

nah man, here in LA we have a mandatory cavity search before we enter any building, government or not. we're only allocated certain amounts of certain foods and get whipped if we even mention dessert. the cameras are everywhere, including the ones forcefully installed in our own orbital sockets.

Seems like the ideal job for seckle is making the taglines for action movies. I think of Jason Statham running away from some massive explosion every time I see this thread.

Or they just have to prove that Dotcom knowingly evaded DMCA requests and intentionally made money of illegal uploads. Which would be pretty easy.
