Going back to the OP, where you said that Excision gets hate, I've never understood why a forum that seems to love Distance hates on him. I mean...

Both are dark dubstep, but somehow Distance is okay. It probably has to do with the fact that Distance is English and Excision is North American. Noisia are Dutch, and Skrillex is North America. And we all know how America ruins everything.

wut?

Just because both are 'dark dubstep' doesn't mean if you like one you have to like the other. That excision tunes pretty poo imo not because it's by excision (i like some of their tunes) just because its a crap tune imo.

Yeah a lot of people don't hate excision, saying everyone hates north American music just because of where it's from is really stupid... bad correlation. I remember circa '06 there was quite a lot of decent music from there, then the music industry at large tried to capitalise on the name of the genre, thus we have Skrillex and the semi-related genre of brostep. Good music probably still gets made but it's crowded out by the crap

Noisia: Very harsh (at least nowadays), unique sound design and in my opinion maybe the best production quality in brostep scene.

Skrillex: If I had to choose, i would still rather listen to him than Chris Brown, or Justin Bieber lol.

Meanstreak is a tune, it is a bit tearout-y but in a good way, no random sounds and noise just for the sake of noise. As far as brostep goes I can listen to most Excision and some of his tunes I quite enjoy, but Destroid.......

Skrillex is not even remotely comparable to Noisia.

Noisia have been around for bare time and are (rightly) considered pure heavyweights in production quality and versatility of sound which has roasted dance floors for a long time.

Skrillex is relatively new-come and is, at least around here, considered a bastardised product of mid-range screech gone-too-far and Borgore's idea of ruining dubstep, all adding to and solidifying the annoying perception that "amerika ruined dubstep m8" that is like a self-perpetuating myth.

Besides, this is a dubstep forum and Noisia grew from and are still mostly known for their dnb, whereas Skrillex grew from and is still mostly known for the associated form of dubstep he practices. Maybe if you went on a different forum that focuses on a different genre the OP's question might be reversed.

I still find it funny that people think of Skrillex as dubstep

why?

just because he said he don't consider himself making it? Do you not think of Mala's tunes as dubstep?

obviously he (skrill) has done lots of Elecbro housey stuff too, but a lot of his well known stuff is dubstep, even if bastardized screechy version of it

You got yourself there at the bastardised screechy version of it. The only similarity between Mala and Skrillex is 140bpm

To be fair, the only similarity to Mala and a lot of other dubstep is 140 bpm.

This is DSF. There have been two highly popular and full topics and one topic nearly full devoted to slating brostep. It's highly believable if you ask me.

The thing is it's just opinion, which is infinite. Even first reply agreed. Op even said they got what they asked for 2 pages back, we're just bored and spinning it out. with our own 2p.... either the thread will die of it's own accord or someone will take it too far and get it locked

Here's a question. Why do people feel like skrillex is a shitty person, a tnuc?

You don't have to like anybody's music but you sound like bitter failures.

If anybody's music becomes popular, that means certain people like it. If you don't, that's great, it doesn't make the producer some sort of shitty person.

Skrillex isn't exactly my cup of tea but seeing people call him a tnuc, a shitty producer that shouldn't be recognized, and all this other shit is really ironic. He acknowledges that what he makes isn't dubstep, he's doing his own version of bro.

I've never noticed a particular hate of him personally, more dislike of having his music framed by the media as dubstep and the whole fucking commercial circus that got created...
