when the gender percentages are as skewed as they are in most occupations? yes. it's at least worth a mention. i long for the day when it won't be, tbh.
Gotta love a gender percentage. I once had a conversation with Jon Rust at DMZ about participation ratios in dubstep. Out to the b-line statistic massive!

Really good article...one thing though I find with these articles is that they hardly ever feature anything north of the border...we do actually do things up here in Scotland :D

dope dope thanks for posting Christine! mad respect.

very inspriational and tis true:
"It’s disappointing that girls lag behind in the controls department and are still in support slots on big urban bills, but as dubstep blossoms (it’s still a relatively young genre) perhaps this will be the genre through which females radically change their allotted role in beat making."

I'm not going to start producing dubstep just bc there is a lack of women, but bc i fucking love it and it is the genre of choice for me...i would expect any promotor to treat me the same as any man not jsut bc i'm a woman...but still it does seem a bit girlie dj lonely in colorado's dubstep scene. :|

My point exactly. There are quite a few of us women up in Scotland doing our bit for dubstep, and it's not that I/we want a big up, it's just with pretty much any dubstep feature I have seen that talks about the scene seems to miss out Scotland...anyways, no biggie just an observation

how can you broads have time for dubstep what with dinners to make and the ironing and all that? Especially now that fuel prices are going up your blokes must be having to work extra hard to fund your cute little vinyl hobbies.
