I don't claim to be that on the ball when it comes to new music, but it seems to me that there may be a difference between funky house and just plain UK funky?

That's just confusing if there is. The only real funk happened in the 70's/early 80's. George Clinton all the way.... And those people made the funk with real groove and style, with real instruments and everything.... Nooooooooooooooooo!

This song, nay this album FTW for a funky groove....

Bah, couldn't find the tune I was after, but this is sample gold..... Listen to the drum rolls at 1:31 onwards. Perfect.

Bah, damn my inept search options when I'm drunk. Funkadelic, Maggot Brain, the whole album. If you don't own that album then you deserve to die.

Good UK Funky

the below is well produced, not cheesey and has no vocals (for the most part)

for the haters.

Apple - De Siegalizer

Hard House Banton (worst name ever?) - Siren EP

http://www.chemical-records.co.uk/sc/se ... ack=MR002F
Roska - Climate Change ep

http://www.chemical-records.co.uk/sc/se ... RINSELP009
Geeneus - Volumes 1

Fuzzy Logik - Bangers and Mash 1

http://www.chemical-records.co.uk/sc/se ... ck=DDJS030

all the snobs who like the above shit will call it "dubbage" in a weeks time..its very much a case of "Wot u call it" all over again.

the "skank" shit is absolute dogshite, but that "migrane skank" STEALS two fucking awesome tunes, one by DJ Gregory, one by HH Banton

Made in 1970. Nineteen fucking seventy. Listen to that riff. Then listen closerto how good the rhythm and bass sounds. Magic.

For even more true funkniness, check out what I consider to be the birth of groove and soul, i.e. true funk (unbeknownst to the three aficionados that played this concert.):

Three people. A drummer with he best voice I've ever heard, best guitarist EVER, and a bassist that could hold the Empire state together. What more could you ask for???? When that little drum roll kicks in, and then the three nof them are playing together.... Argh, makes me want to cum...

Look, I know, I know. But imagine being around at the time this stuff was released. I know it would have blown my mind to the next level...

it may sound good if the bass is drowning out the riff....

but this isnt good even by the early nineties standards

whatever floats your boat though

I haven't heard much UK Funky that I clicked with but Kode 9 and Grievous Angel are both into it and they have impeccable taste.

Some of the comments on here sound like me and thousands of other jungle heads did when speed garage came out. And we were seriously wrong!

Also, anyone who uses the word "gay" to insult any form of club music should be forced to listen to Frankie Knuckles & Jamie Principal's 'Baby Wants To Ride' over and over until they fucking get it.

thats an another good sign.
