yeah some ambient grime refixes have come off sounding really cool, sangam's pretty good at em
Same person who was bashing ambient minutes before. Mitt is that you?

I was being semi sarcastic, but seriously, there is a whole lot of wank ambient out there. Layering a recording of a vinyl crackle and some real sounds with a couple droning chord and strings doesn't make someone revolutionary, people need to get off burial's dick
oh man you just went full retard

you're just trying to be edgy by dismissing one of the most universally respected artists as an untalented hack

and its especially rich coming from a 15 year old kid who valiantly defended skrillex not much more than a year ago

don't let it get to your head kid (you know what I'm referring to)

what? I love burial, one of my all time favorite artists

my statement was that this whole trend of trying to sound as much like burial as you can is getting old, at least to me

even if i DID go at burial, who are you to decide what the motive for my decision was? It's stupid to just assume that I'm "just trying to be edgy", what if I actually didn't like burial? But I love burial so that's irrelevant

read it fully before you post next time bud

Not all ambient music with droning chords and real sounds, sounds like burial

phigure - and I'm 14 lol

AND the fact that I liked skrillex and made a thread about it over a year back is pretty irrelevant, but I'm sure you feel that it's effective to cite that anyways because apparently it makes me less credible

skimpi - yeah....but a lot does. or tries to.

I see what you're getting at now, it was worded ambiguously though: i interpreted it as you saying burial is wank ambient and people should stop thinking he's talented, as opposed to being a statement about burial knock offs being wank (which I fully agree with)

I knew you liked burial, which is why it came across as even more retarded

there is faaaaaaar more to ambient though than just burial and burial clones

fwiw though i don't think the whole skrilly thing is irrelevant

well now you're making more sense too :w:

I know there's far more to ambient than burial and burial clones, if you read back you'll see that I never said anything to the contrary...my attack was on the seemingly large amount of artists and tunes right now which are weak attempts at burial replication.
There's plenty of ambient pieces which aren't by burial which I love. Night Tracks keeps me up to date with a lot of that side of music. To be perfectly honest I don't like everything they post/release, but I do like a good portion of it, and they've introduced me to a lot of really great tunes and artists - for example, Kid Smpl and Ghostek.

I'd say my favorite ambient pieces are by Swarms and Stumbleine. I fucking love glo-fi/shoegaze.

P.S. If you didn't think the skrillex thread was relevant, why mention it dude? :?
