So...its not dubstep, but I could really use some feedback. What are the song's roughest points? Comments on the composition, mixing, structure? Thanks!

@jimbeaux: I would put this in the industrial dubstep box. haha. Not my kind of sound but I think you've done pretty well for someone new to this. I think the structure is a bit out, as the intro feels like it's part of the main drop, then a break before a second drop.

@norco: Drums are way too quiet, and generally get lost. i think some more automation on your lead could really help to make that stand out a bit more as well. Also look at adjusting the levels of some of the other elements.

@norco: def bring the drums up, i know it is just a WIP but def work on the eqing of stuff to, maybe some panning so everything is so together?

Again my newest WIP:

I wouldn't be panning your main drum hits. This will create problems in mono. I also think the track needs "more". Was over it after the drop about 12 bars in =\

Ive already tested it in mono and it was just fine but i get what you mean. As for needing more, this I know im sort of stuck right now hence this still being a work in progress lol.

Was the intro part with the people too long you think?

I wasn't sure what to think of the intro. Didn't lead up to the drop at all. Not much variation.etc.

thanks yo, I'm getting the hang of it slowly but surely. Industrial indeed though. not particularly the direction I'd like to go, I'm just having fun with sound design. :i:

@wu05 whoa man awesome tune. real ambient and stoney. i wish i could hear the sub around 2:24 a little more. I also think the drums could be a bit more punchy. Especially around 3:13 the beat right here is real cool and punchy as is, but i think if they we're even punchier then that part would be even sweeter. I like the half time beat towards the end. awesome work.

@weedcali really nice tune man. the wobble bass sounds kinda blurry. possibly too much verb. to be honest it kinda sounds like the leads could use a bit less verb as well.

@djdevs pretty sweet man. i like the samples. have you resampled that yoy sounding thing much? if so maybe just give it one more go round, it could be dirtier. Also during the bridge or whatever i like the lead piano riff you have going there but i wish it didn't drowned out so badly by the pad and riser. You should bring it forward. also i think if the bass was more in-your-face (if that makes any sense) i think the song would be more powerful. some eqing maybe?? honestly i don't even know. also the high hat can get annoying

@ amphibian pretty sweet track. i like the fake out build up. i think the bass needs to come up a bit. its sweet but needs more power. also in my opinion i think it would be cool to have some kinda vocal sample in this track.

@nicorisone good idea for a few bars. but this is just really repetitive. I can't say if i like the vocal samps or not because i can barely hear them. so all i can say is to bring em up. also the kick is being drowned out a bit.

So here's my track after a couple revisions. I hope you like it and hope you can help me improve it. thanks

@rainbo: quite liking the intro and the synths, though I think your drums are a little too soft. Need a harder-hitting kick to really have some presence with those epic sounds you've got going :)

re: bassline, interesting. I was told by some it was too "much" before, so I toned it down a little, namely taking a bit off the high frequencies :)

Alright made a few changes:
Soundcloud

Note: This is supposed to have an ambient feel. If you ever have listened to old Scuba that is the style I'm going towards.

1:14 mark a little arp comes in.

Updated my track Evolve - longer intro, played with the drums a little more, fixed up the crash at the break with an lfo on the reverb, which gives it a nice touch. Also tried to boost the bassline a little to make it a little more pronounced, but started having problems with the snare =\

sounding good! have tried panning the snare left or right just a tad? even if you pan just a little bit it will help it breath and not get drowned out.

In regards to your message on Soundcloud, I'm definitely up for a collaboration, but I'm swamped right now with Uni, and mixing down something which is lined up for future radio play.
shoot me a message with what you had in mind though and we'll talk

Thanks mate! I really thought the people in the beginning helped with the feel of the song, maybe ill put it back in for the final version?

@NICORISONE: Nice sounds, but its a bit to sparse for my taste, maybe just tail the sub off a little slower, keep it moving a bit.
@rainbo: Tune sounds cool man but a bit cluttered. I would either slow the lower wobble down a little or put a highpass on it so keep the low end clear. But then you replace it with a kinda reece-y noise and it sounds really nice! Smooth moves hombre.
@Zuta: Really nice sounds, good atmos, clean drums. You are getting a couple of little clicks here and there though, so maybe just scour through and make sure you got fades on everything. But otherwise its really progressive and interesting I like it.

Good bunch of tunes there guys!
This is my newest little project, nice and dubby rather than my usual silly breakcore/filth business.
Tell us what you think!

Now that it's been pointed out, you're right... it definitely needs something.. cheers :)

Love the plucks in the intro man, general atmosphere is fantastic! Really nice vibe throughout the track and the stabs after the drop are a really nice touch! I could learn a thing or two from your drum patterns :D

@EDN: that intro is dope! I think the lack of space before the "drop" though works against it. It just sounds like one long intro until the break at 2.18.
