Of ALL? I mean, man is fucking immense, and seriooous talent at what he does... but of ALL?dj stick wrote:I'm gonna go with Reso. Highest production value of all imo, other ones I really like productionwise are Matt-U and The Others.
LOL, don't take things so serious. By all I meant in dubstep. Dubstep is for me the first genre where I cared about the production and such so can't really say about other genres.Basic A wrote:Of ALL? Lofty statement when you throw him in the pitt with like... Dr. Dre, or Hans Zimmer, ect...
Good god if everyone on this forum is really this encompassed in dubstep that thier favorite producers are dubstep artists, thier favorite songs are dubstep songs, they are listing all dubstep as influences, and posting dubstep in the inpiration of the day thread... DID YOU PEOPLE NOT LISTEN TO MUSIC BEFORE DUBSTEP???
Dont get me wrong, EVRY dubstep artist in here is A-FUCKING-MAZING... But damn guys... Its like Deadly Habit says all the time... 'Guys need to get in touch with your roots'...
This dubstep inbreeding of draw influence from nothing but dubstep and make dubstep and bath in dubstep and eat dubstep cds for lunch and ect... SOmetimes I wonder how innovation in the genre ever happens...
(BTW, Reso, when you read this man, you are an AMAZING producer dude, and Im sorry I quoted that as an example it was just the most convenient one... but cmon man... you know you got respect for the Zimmer.)
Dont lie to yourself flylo is burial...Motorway to Roswell wrote:AFX, Zomby, Burial, Actress, Mala, Toasty, Dilla, Fly Lo.

Yeah can't speak from experience but isn't this what happened with DNB? people got fed up because it was DNB inspired DNB which kinda got a lil played out.Basic A wrote:Ahhh man, see, dont you take things so serious! lol... I wasnt taking anything at you dude dont take it that way, people assume because a post is long and worded that way its serious, nah man I smoke and start ranting, happened my whole life...
Earlier went off to my friend about dubstep inbreeding so it was on my mind read this thread whole way through and just used you as an excuse to rant it again...
But seriously...
Anyone else notice this? The sort of inbreeding in the genre? It reduces shit to the lowest common copycat sometimes...
And at the man I was just sortin an explanation too...
Either way man, youd be best to not burn yourself out on dubstep man, and to do as much research as you can about other genres and the history of EDM regardless, ESPECIALLY if this is your first genre. Theres nothing wrong with it being your first genre, but, you should be studying all walks of EDM and trying to bring your own bits you take from all of it, in with your own bits from life, and put it into the tune. Trust me. Regardless of if it would be 'your' style, its SOMEONEs style so if you cna figure out what its secret is you can start to appeal to everyone, and youll get to another level in production from it. Just grit your teeth n study everything from early house n hiphop to early rave and hardcore. Youll be good to it.

TBF I had totally forgot that I was doing this, going to dubstep gigs, playing out dubstep at gigs, writing dubstep to play out at gigs then goin home to listen to dubstep.
Thanks for reminding me that this is bad. I entered this phase with metal a few years back, it was relentless so I expanded to dubstep to draw other influences but it seems I got sucked in this side too, need to find something else to try now
