Hehe, I usually read a Wolverine one when I have to wait there. I do remember flipping
through another one that contained some serious gore though. Always thought it
was kinda odd.

Guess he used to read comics / reads comics.

^ maybe theres a psycology behind it, when im at a dentists i tend to try and go to a happy place (out of boredom not pain/anxiety) and perhaps graphic novels encourage this... (i highly doubt it tho ^_^more like he reads/read them himself , and hes got a wolverine you say 0o impressive haha)

The new Marvel bits are actually pretty good - started reading the Grifter and Resurrection Man and they were alright.

Obvious choice -

Not so obvious choice:

Absolute quality that one.

Got a Friday The 13th and Texas Chainsaw Massacre graphic comic book whatever in like 4th grade.
Never got anymore, although some of the ones in this thread look pretty dang fantastic.
Do any of you know a good site that I could read these in that a normal google search might not reveal right away?

This one slipped me by, Warren Ellis - Ocean 2009 (apparently being made into a move (wb))

Was alright, nice concepts,,, but not a mindblowing read... but a pretty good one at that.

Starting to read Nightwing from vol 1 - the TPBs are so rare though, i managed to get Vol 1 for £16 from a charity shop but online they fetch about £40! And Vol 2, i kid you not, isn't available for less than £60 anywhere!

Also, picked up Sandman Vol 1, after so many years of people telling me it was fantastic. Will start reading soon.

Can anyone recommend me some more funny/realistic/offbeat/"indie" books in the vain of American Splendor/Daniel Clowes?

And while im here...

Dont get the hype. Possibly the most overrated comic i have ever read. In fact, i wrote a semi-troll review on amazon. Here -

The 'Aliens' series with the films like Alien, Aliens, Alien 3 had some really good comics separate from the movies, same with the Predator too.

Had to lol at this though!

Anybody read this? I just picked up a thin TPB, pretty funny from what i've read. Such an easy read.

Although kind of weird reading it now he's dead.

Most DC archives or Marvel Masterworks are pretty good.. They're basically just collections of certain runs, but the beginning and classic issues to stuff like the fantastic four and iron man are always amazing (jack kirby and stan lee) so definietly check them out. You can get them kinda cheap in TPB here if you're interested, they also have restored coloring in some of them which can really improve it: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Marvel-Masterwo ... pd_sim_b_3

As for new/recent stuff, these series are all awesome, I definietly recommend them:

Ed Brubaker's Captain America
Geoff Johns' Green Lantern
Matt Fraction's Iron Man
