Just wondering, when it comes to voting, will the mixes be unnamed? so the mixes wont have the dj/producers name on so we dont know whos is whos?

Yeah I'm gonna have to rethink the voting thing, what with the forum going down theres not a lot of time left for me to get cracking promotion wise and I don't know if I can afford another week for voting.
I'm thinking of maybe having judges (external to the forum) pick the winners given my timeframe.
What do people think about that?

I think you should pick who you want to play, its your night, your money - you're doing a goood thing for the community so just make sure we got a bangin' line up.

@Serox: No I've extended the deadline for getting mixes in until saturday.
However given the forum being down I'm probably gonna axe the voting idea and have a couple of judges (external to the forum) decide which mixes are the best.

are you also going to be labelling mixes with the format they were recorded on? I thought it would be a good idea to habe 2 or 3 cats, one for vinyl and then two more for serato and software only.
Then pick the bets out of the bunch of each and then put them against each other.
Otherwise it seems totally pointless when you have people sticking mp3s in an order with straight up mixing like I see now days. If people want to mix digital you got to be using technology to do something different I think.
Anyway, I look forward to hearing what people have done.

So I submitted the one with the dodgy levels as I ain't going to get another go on serato at my mates before the deadline. Seeing as it ain't being voted on anymore (which i think wasn't the way forward regardless - promoter should pick his artists), is it okay to post a soundcloud preview here?
You're (probably not) GOING DOWN SEROX.

I dont even have levels and my mixer is broken lol! I just did a mix with some new records that arrived on the day I had time. No warm up at all with the tracks (heard them mixed before tho) and it was not perfect but I left it as it was.

I held drawing pins on the records, opened my mouth to let the serato hear the analog timecode. Bitch to monitor on still.

Fair play guys.
The thing is, if you've been dj-ing quite a long time (like me and the people who are going to be judging) you can tell when someone's decent at mixing.
I would hope people haven't gona for the lining up of tracks, unless they are gonna do it live.
However I don't have a problem with that tbh. Thats my opinion though and its not gonna just be up to me.
...Oh and I mixed on gramaphones, got parrots to learn the songs and beatjuggled by hitting them with a copy of "heat" magazine.

LOL (at owning heat).
I'm not up on how live sounding Ableton and that can be, but ain't it gonna be fairly obvious if it's done on decks or some digital thing. Platter stops, platter touches, pull backs, (in my case dodgy beat matching) and alike?

Yeah its pretty obvious.
If it sounds perfect then its done on ableton, if it sounds shoddy then its vinyl

Na, thats a ridiculous over simplification but you get the idea, vinyl crackle etc.
I do the ableton thing sometimes as well as vinyl so I can tell relatively easily.
And don't be badmouthing heat man, all of the sick dubstep producers get their cues from Cheryl Cole and Jordan mate.
Who do you think invented wobble?
IOMac: Please do, I love northern ravers, they are always fuckin 'avin it.

What if someone uses a vinyl crackle generator in Ableton? Dun dun DUN!
