So far in my 2 months of being in London, I haven't 'been set upon with bricks' or anything like that, and I still haven't met Dubluke which must be some sort of record.

I have to agree to a point about violence only coming to those involved with people and activities that involve violence. (Drugs, shaggin your mates missus, cattle market clubs etc.).

But I've directly and inderectly experienced more violence in Bristol than any other city including London & Manchester.

Wascal, yup, I'm a wasteman. When was the last time you left Bristol to be able to reflect on the quality of life there??

That's pretty much every city in our country... we got you beat. Some little bastards tried to jump my boyfriend on the way to pick me up from work last night(we live up the street, so he was IPOD an footing it.)

in a word, not particularly. Random acts of violence are extremely rare in my experience. I've lived here 9 years in diff part from posh to 'dodgy' and never seen random violence with my own eyes.

Of course I know a few people who have been unlucky but it is by no means a violent place. It's just a city.

Thinking, that's what I was getting at. London is an incredibly violent place for some people, for others it's pretty safe.

Somehow over the years I've managed to avoid getting in fights etc... Probably because I'm a pussy lol

Sorry, was a bit harsh but your experience of Bristol is unlike anything that anyone one I know has experienced.

Like Thinking I've lived right in the heart of dodgy areas as well as the posher parts of town and to claim theres someone lurking round every corner, brick in hand, is pretty laughable

i'm sure i saw this guy quite a few times when i was there

tbf i loved bristol when i lived there - and i do really miss it - back then it did have an "edge". But it's a dynamic city with a lot happening, so that is part of the vibrance of it. Just dont go looking for trouble really i guess. When i've visited since, it has hugely cleaned up from how i remember it.

The bus system definitely sucks monkey balls, i'm afraid. I think i took 2 in the entire four years i lived there - in fact it was quicker to walk the 45 mins to the train station than to catch a bus

But the tubes in London in summer rush hour suck more along with the general grumpiness of 99% of the people that live there


I say, move to Brighton! It's just like bristol, without the edge, lots more sun, less rain, beach and a quick train ride to london.

I lived in Bristol until about 10 years ago, and still go back regularly for a night I started with my mate there (and to see my family). But can't imagine I'd ever want to move back there on any basis again, London's soooo much better. Don't get me wrong, the sheer number of people is a bit of an issue. But in all the years I've been here, have never ever had any 'trouble'. Whereas Bristol on the other hand, is full to the rafters with inbred twats who are keen to be violent towards strangers! Perhaps there's a good side to there being so many guns in London, people don't just start fights with anyone!! Also find people to be a bit racist back there, on both sides. You can kinda see how both sides justify their attitudes too, what with all the mutual stupidity. You just don't get that in London, or not that I've noticed anyway. Bristol's a great party city, but more than a few days there starts to get me down. It's all a little bit short in the forehead department for me Not that I wanna live in London forever - all about the cuntry

Forensics have you ever been outside of zone 1 + 2. All those problems are prevalent in areas of Greater London.

i've lived in what is a supposedly very dangerous area of london my entire life, and 'touch wood' i've never had anyone even look at me funny on the bus/walking down the street at 4am, the only trouble i've ever had (got mugged) was actually in what is supposedly a 'nice area', although that is possibly why people were robbing around there, nice area = people probably carrying nicer phones, more cash etc.

if you don't go looking for trouble, or you're not involved in some sort of turf war (;)) then as a general rule you'll be fine
