haven't been on dsf in a while but I like this thread as it's interesting to hear peoples' opinions on this topic.
It may not sound like it based on my heavier tunes, but I used to produce trance for like 5ish years before switching over. I'm gonna be the odd man out but I have no problem saying it, I love trance and will happily be making trance-influenced dubstep. I haven't gotten that same moodiness from deeper dubstep tunes as I have with trance tunes (with the exception of a few Burial, Hxdb, and Indigo tunes).
Aronek - Free Yourself
Mark Otten - Tranquility
The Doppler Effect - Beauty Hides in the Deep
...after listening to these old tunes, I have trouble seeing how one could so vehemently hate (progressive) trance if they like those deeper dubstep tunes.
EDIT: just figured out how to embed video
Looks like I'll be pissing people off with one of my future releases on Z-audio...

Bigup Numbernin6 a rare talent indeed! Don't worry about pissing ppl off your not real producer until you've got a hate thread these days!!

Numbernin6 > Some nice stuff here.
To be honnest, I rarely like the "filthy" side of dubstep, but your "Hunt You Down" track did put a smile on my face. Different and refreshing.
Really like your more melodic stuff too, and though I dislike trance in general (xept for some psytrance....yeah I know ) your tunes sounded pretty good to me. Interesting to see someone coming from such a different genre. Would be interesting to see what you can do by mixing Trance and Dubstep while keeping the filthy thing.

Well...it's not bad....but...uhm...a bit cheesy though.
I mean, I love some cheesy stuff (god, I even like some goa) but there's a limit and the new age acapella is a bit off limit for me lol.

Getting back to the OP - 'Time To Burn' + 'Mystery Land' = tunes.
Very much feeling this vibe.
mp3s?
As for the rest of the thread - a lot of trance is awesome, some isnt. Same with dubstep.
As for dubstep/trance fusion, I imagine it's the same thing. Some good, some bad. Marmite, yeah?

I've always liked Boards of Canada but I don't think their music is nearly as epic or original as what Burial is doing although its definately more uplifting
Mm I like Burial too but Burial more epic that BOC??!?!? You gotta be johoking me right! :p

Don't care what anyone says here but I have so much time for this.
Exceptionally well produced in my eyes. Numbernin6 you've outdone yourself here!

I'm also pushing the trance/dubstep hybrid movement. I think they compliment eachother like good and evil. http://www.soundclick.com/djsirk - the track is called "night and day". Let me know what you think.
