My DAW is better than yours! (Friendly DAW Wars debate)

It came to light
in a separate thread that we producers enjoy bashing each others software hosts.
This thread has been created for a
tongue in cheek way to really get to the bottom of the debate, to work out once and for all which software is
king!
---------------------------------------------
Many of you know I use
Cockos Reaper and advertise it like a fanatic.
The only reason I use Reaper is because I was dissatisfied with the other apps out there.
Reaper has three main points I enjoy:
1> It is free until you have the meagre sum of $60 to buy a licence. (That's $100's cheaper than most other applications).
2> The sequencer is really easy to use, allowing samples to be dragged 'n' dropped directly from anywhere on the computer and timestretched just by Alt-click-dragging the edges of the samples.
3> It can actually be customised properly, unlike all of the competition. This means my toolbars, menus, graphics theme and layout are exactly the way I want them to be, not forced upon me!
If a new program came out that was better than Reaper, I'd ditch it pronto and make the switch. Until that day, I suppose Reaper will do
-------------
Reasons for hating the shit competition:
Propellerhead Reason is too limited, and using Record is a workflow killer.
FL Studio is a mess of windows and ackwardness. Another workflow killer.
I refuse to pay over the odds for a Mac with Logic (and hate Mac OS anyway).
I refuse to be locked into certain hardware configurations with Pro Tools.
Cubendoh! has a horrible workflow yet again.
Ableton live is too clunky, and again I dislike the interface. (I own a legal version of Live Lite)
Renoise looks like a math/physics exam. (I flunked math). More killed workflow.
erm... and everything else is just shit lol.
------------------------
Add your feeble opinions below!

OH YEAH?! WELL FUCK OFF CAUSE I USE-... oh you use Reaper too...
Yeah it's great for a multitude of reasons. Editing items is really easy, the versatile tracks that aren't limited to one type of media, simple routing. It's customizable, the bundled plugins are actually really useful, and it's got built in VU meters beside the master peak meters! Chea!
Reason sucks because it doesn't seem very precise with levels. The routing is flexible but convoluted. Don't like midi editing, no vst, no audio... Oh yeah and doesn't it still only take up part of your screen? STUPID!
Haven't played with
Cubase lately but I've always generally got the impression that its users were all douchebags
Pro Tools is
shit.
Shit.
Proprietary hardware, crippled LE and MP versions just so you'll pay oodlez of dollars to upgrade to HD (did they fix the PDC yet?) Some nice bundled plugins but fuck off with using RTAS for everything. Just admit Steiny won with VST
Logic is sweet but macs are for cigarettes
Ableton just has an unintuitive layout and the way it handles things just weirds me out
Renoise looks kinda kool but I can't be stuck to a grid, I need to be able to manually place notes exactly where I want em
Anything else is too obscure to immediately come to mind (I'm looking at you Sonar) and thus is poop.
Oh yeah and
FL is still called Fruity Loops by everyone. What a stupid name decision. Change all your plugins from Fruity this and Fruity that to "Testosterone Compressor" and "Manly Chorus" and then we'll talk. Windows end up in a giant layered cluster fuck. Having to patch things to a mixer track instead of one being created for each lane is dumb. The separation between patterns and playlist editor is not conductive to flow.
Reaper/GTFO

I haven't used too many other DAWs but here goes.
FL Studio is just so simple and unrestricting. straight out of the box you don't even have to read the manual to start making beats it's that esy.
Point me in the direction of any other DAW there you can press ONE button (that's right just one) and see everything that's going in with any mixer track; it shows you all the FX, any panning or stereo separation, any sends, any external inputs, all of that on ONE screen without having to flick from EQ to FX to Sends which is just an unecessary waste of time.
Point me in the direction of any other DAW where well over 90% of ALL parameters can be automated with 2 clicks
(right click -> edit events/create automation clip). In fact most of the FL right click options are gold; reset to default value, saved my life too many times and can be done with a simple middle mouse button click. Link to controller, so many options here, link it up to the peak controller for sidechaining (which also has a built in LFO) or hook it up to the envelope controller with 4 custom envelopes and 4 LFOs, or hook it up to one of the other numerous controllers in FL and go nuts.
Point me in the direction of any other DAW with a built in sampler as awesome as FL, one click auditioning, you don't have to bring it into your project to listen to it, use a media player to do it, or bring up some extra bullshit menu for it just one simple click does the job. Then once you've got your sample you can filter it with one of the 8 built in filters with for separate envelopes for volume, pitch, cutoof and resonance all without having to go anywhere near the mixer or using any external FX. Or you can use the built in audio editor, chop up your samples and NOT have toe render/export it to use it in the same project you just drag it onto the step sequenceror the playlist and your done.
And that's literally just a fragment of FLs awesomeness, any other FLers feel free to add something

i use renoise and reaper but i also salute ableton.
fruity loops...lol.
does anyone know if fl was supposed to be a joke when it first came out? now it's powerful, but in 2001 i remember using a version and the lol factor was too much. even recently fiddling with fl 8. i'm going through fx and all, clicking away...next thing i know there's a fuckin elf or some shit dancing (out of rhythm) with the beat.
like are dudes at image line thinking to themselves "rofl lemme call a plug in sound goodizer. just by intialising it ya tunes deceptively sound better" or "rofl luv philter...sounds lame, let's use it!!!" or "rofl boo bass....essentially useless but whatever!!!! throw it in there"
weird shit i tell you.
not hating. i respect all these programs.

YES!!!
Logic is sweet but macs are for cigarettes
Quoted for epic truth :p
I'll come back to this thread with some inane ramblings in a bit methinks..
In the meantime, FruityLoops is rancid. I got no beef with any other DAW XD Special hat nods go to Reason, Ableton, Reaper and Logic..but as stated above I would never buy logic due to the fact i'll never own an apple crap.
EDIT: Point you in a direction of just one other daw that you can do the things you said in??? Er...pretty much ANY other daw

I havn't used most enough to know for sure but ableton definitely does...and better!

There's no end to a debate that is based completely off of user opinion. This isn't going to end up being so much of a debate, but more of a huge thread full of factual information about a product that is used in an opinion to make it seem superior to another product that most likely can do the exact same thing just in a different way. Essentially all your DAWs can do exactly the same thing, it's just some utilize different methods to achieve the same goal......aside from maybe, Reason.
Lets face it though, reason is just vastly inferior to most other DAWs mainly because it lacks any third party support and you get stuck with nothing but Propellerhead dribble. Sure, some of their stuff is good, but at the same time, for the stuff that doesn't work well, you have no way of utilizing a third party product to replace it like just about every other DAW out there can do. However, I've heard many good things done with reason so it's not like it's inferior in it's ability to create music, just in it's software limitations which probably isn't an issue for some.
I use FL. Sure you can call it "Fruity" but I don't see any real reason to replace it yet. I've tried other DAWs and they just didn't work out for me. I do like Reaper and Ableton it just sucks trying to completely learn a new DAW from the ground up but they can definitely compliment FL, particularly LIVE with it's sample manipulation. A lot of people have issues with the Pattern and playlist split, but if you completely drag out the pattern display, all you have is the clip track which is all I use now, or vice versa if you prefer using the pattern blocks which I'm sure some do.
The way I see it, as long as YOU can make good music with it, then stick to it until you feel you should move on to something different. Don't let other people's opinions deter you from your own. If people make fun of you for using it, when you finally make something that is just mind blowing with it, you can come back and shove down their throats.

Ableton is the main one I never got round to using, my post was aimed more at cubase and reason and I know for a fact that neither of them can do what I mentioned in my post without taking twice as long to do it.

Reason can't do your top point no but it's very very automatable, almost every single button or switch can be automated however you like very intuitivly. It might not have the same sample window type thing that ableton and fruity have but you *dont* have to open up a seperate program to listen to samples XD you just have to click 'open sample' on whichever sampler your using and then whatever you click on in the window will be played to you before you insert it into your track. (personally I don't use reason for samples though I do all that in ableton)

Acid Pro 7 anyone ?
I actually like it. It's probably the least stable piece of software ever written but everything's laid out the way I like it, one click sample auditioning, very customisable interface, brilliant for working with loops.
The Chopper tool is pretty good if a little outdated, the beatmapper really lets you dial in what you need and it's just easy to use, but I suppose thats only because I've got some experience with it.
Now if only i could stop it giving dropouts when rendering an Albino synth, I'd be happy as a turkey on boxing day

I thought I'd get that

I think it's a case of it being the first thing I tried, the first thing I learnt to use semi-efficiently, and so the first thing I bought

I'm sure there's more than just Rusko running Acid Pro. For some people that was one of the first things they grabbed most likely cause one day they were looking up music production software and it was one of the first things that popped up on the search engine. I did the same thing. For whatever reason, when I first decided I wanted to see what this stuff was like and went looking, Acid Pro was actually one of the first links in the search engine to pop up. I did download it and I tried to use it for like 2 days. Essentially coming to the conclusion that there had to be something better out there. I'm sure for some people it just worked, like many other programs did for other people.
The strange thing to me is the fact that Rusko actually went to school for this stuff, and I would have to assume that in a setting that was created specifically to teach people the aspects of production and what not, they would have something more formal to the music industry like Pro Tools or Logic. I can't seriously believe that there's studios running strictly on Acid Pro, and I definitely wouldn't believe that a school trying to teach people production would ever take the Acid Pro route considering the commercial standard is something like Pro Tools.
