Okay, I have some Korg M1 samples, but they are off centre. They are panned ever so slightly to the left, but when i try and correct them with right pan it doesnt sound right.

I think the best solution is to mono then apply some effects to make it stereo again but I dont know the best way around this.

Can someone help?

export it in mono and then re-import ?

just the lower or higher notes? pianos are often double microphoned in stereo

If i re-import as mono, how can i then get it back into stereo?


Its lower and higher, I low and high passed it, then ran it through the stereo analyser.

But if i add chorus or stereo widener it just sounds fake and awful!

did you read the post I made there? If you want it to sound real it needs to be slightly panned that way to separate the left and right hands.

yes, play the lower and the higher notes and you'll hopefully see a different panning.

EDIT: Also higher notes will probably tend left, which is why I suggested playing some lower notes to see if the panning changes

Exporting duplicate mono Chanel's to stero doesn't make it true stereo. I would keep it in mono then add a stereo reverb, probably the most natural soundin way to do it.

just pan them to the right? I'm not getting the problem here. panning a stereo channel is really just balancing the left and right channel so that's exactly what you need.

It was as one of the guys above said... low notes left, high notes right...

if you pan your sending one more the other way.

Well then it shouldn't really be that much of a problem ( i thought you were gonna use only high notes or something)

If you're using the entire piano, just leave it as it is, there is no artificial method for creating stereo width that will work as well as double mic'ing.

Does this slight off centered sound make it unuseable? Unless they are playing entirely left or entirely right then I don't see it really causing much of an issue.

I doubt you'll notice it in the mix.

it will sound right in the final mix, I bet!
