something random just reminded me of a blackdown article on pitchforkmedia where he wrote about how dubstep was becoming too dark and masculine and i was just sitting in the sun and thinking.. that guy couldnt be more right. now i love a dark, twisted, banger as much as the next guy but maybe more thats a bit lighter? anyways just my opinion..

Seek and ye shall find. Loads of tunes that have that 'summer vibes 'feeling round at the mo, Le Cosa Nostra by $shy/Afterdark (?) is one that springs to mind.

Dark does seem to be the default setting for most uk underground music. it happens in every scene.

There's loads of diversity of tonality in dubstep nowadays - can't complain about the quality of recent releases at all. It's just unfortunate that at the raves (particularly the bigger ones) djs just seem to draw for the maxed out tunes that have cymbal crashes filling up every space and make people dance like cavemen.

The subtler tunes can sound amazing on big rigs as well as at home, it's just a shame most of them don't make it that far at the moment.

I don't know what you mean by ''Dark'' though, do you just mean aggressive wobbling tunes? Reckon I'd like to see more of a garage swing to beats, a lot of tunes all you can do is throw your gun fingers and drink up in the air.

Ting is, I like the odd jelly tune like the next drunken twat, it's just when DJs insist on playing rinseoutrinseoutrinseout it gets dry. I don't know if that's ''masculine'' or not though
