How do you make this Heavy Squishy Grit bass?

My friend has just started making this sound for his new songs ... everytime he sends me a file for massive its corrupted ...(I think hes got hax on his massive xD) and when we try to recreate it mine isnt sounding near as throaty. Just looking for tips and tricks so even if I do get his sound I wanna be able to make mine not exactly like his. Thanks everyone :D

Make a greasy fm bass. Split it into Lows Mids Highs and add a bunch of effects to each band. Lots of distortion on the highs. Mono the lows, spread the highs. Modulate one of the operators. It shouldnt be too hard to replicate

Detore !!yes!! that is a great thing to look into and that datsik video is the bomb ! and as for you chris yes fm is definatly the way to go i agree I have been messing with fm8 for a few months now love it ... and those are fantastic tips for producers of any level
