Been a busy beaver over the last week or two and cranked out this banger over the last couple of days!

nice, this track gets to the point... nothing crowding the mix. Clean track man.

Thanks man

Definitely aimed to have something clean and heavy, hoping to keep pushing my production in that way in future so big ups for that

I like it, Chestplate-style. How are you treating the bass and kick? Because you have a bass with a fast transient, you could put them in the same channel and compress them - I think a valve emulator would be good to thicken it up and make it sound like they're smashing together.
The smash-y snare need to be pumped more too imo, sounds a little flat. Same with the claps, and you could have them at different places in the stereo field to make it sound a little crazier maybe

Sorry test_recordings, did see this but didn't have the time to check the tracks and let you know!
To give you a run-down of what's currently going on, I'm running the bass and kick separately. The grungy bass has some analogue-emulation Compression (Red 3 by Focusrite), Valve EQ acting as a pre-amp (BootEQ by VoS), Vintage Limiting acting as a compressor (Thrillseeker VBL by VoS) and a proper limiter. Then, I've got a PFL send to the wider distortion which has another compressor, the excellent Rob Papen Distort (CM edition), Softube's Saturation Knob (that they were giving away for free a little while ago) and a stereo widener to bring the Side out a little bit. The kick has analogue-emulation EQ (Red 2 by Focusrite) to cut the sub freq out, Compression (Supercharger GT by NI), another Valve EQ acting as preamp (BootEQ) and finally a little saturation a la Saturation Knob again.
Do you reckon it's worth sending the whole two tracks then or just pumping them a little? Or maybe some parallel processing via bus? I did want to bring out the verby claps a little more but I think that's more my choice of reverb effect - currently I'm using Redline Reverb. Not sure about the stereo fielding on it but I'll have a play in the future and see what I like
Thank you for the comments either way sir, definitely wanted something weighty on my "resume" and I think this one fits the bill

Wow, lots of stuff going on. To be be honest I wouldn't even compress the bass if it's a synth as the dynamic range is going to be consistent already and if you want grunge just use some distortion (asymmetrical clipping would be best for to keep it prominent in the mix, that's what valves do anyway). Same with the kick if it's something you've sampled from music that's already been mixed and mastered.
Otherwise, yeah, put them in to the same compressor and get the threshold to trigger when they both hit together.
For the verby claps, highpass them but use a gradual Q from the mids down put some resonance on it to have a bit of slap in it

I thought the mix was great. Guess it depends on what you're listening on. Big tune man!

To be honest, I like how the compressor brings out the tail of the bass and I despite the sound being static in theory, I tend to see some spikes in dB when I'm hitting the bass notes closer together... I like the layering of the bits either way

I'll have a play when I get the time either way, might do a VIP or something and get a little crazy
And yeah, currently doing that haha! Will have another go at the 'verb and see what I can get out of it
Oh, and big ups hirszu

Yeah I'm really happy with it to say I busted it out over a coupla days, workflow was tight on this
