Generation Kill is the next logical step from the Wire.

I'd have to recommend 'The Corner'. A little mini series (six episodes I think), again based in Baltimore. Very moving stuff.

The Wire is better then crack!

As the Times recently put: "Be warned, episodes are like Pringles, and perfectly reasonable people have been debilitated into muttering “just one more” as they rock back and forth in their pyjamas after an extended Baltimore-fest. "

If you want to continue on the same lines as The Wire, check out 'The Corner', based in Baltimore again, but alot more gritty dark and more like a documentary style of filming. Also has a lot of the same cast as The Wire.

The Sopranos HBO baby yeh

Mad Men is the best current series by a country mile. Absolutely brilliant writing.

CityZen wrote:Anyone remember 'Oz'? That was quite gritty to say the least but maybe a wee bit dated now. Yeah Generation Kill was good... and Sopranos obviously.
this! OZ rocks. i like dated stuff, twin peaks was also awesome. check out the Lost Room, its a 3 part film. really good.

the only thing that comes close to the wire was generation kill, too bad it was only a miniseries but hey you can make a book longer after its done

the corner and homocide life on the street are along the same lines but nothing touches the wire
