I was into electro house before i was ever into dubstep and i had a small collection of songs that had a slow breakbeat section worked into the middle of the song which were my favourites:

The other day i found a dnb song that incorporated dubstep into the middle and the end result sounded great:

Let me know what you think of dubstep mixed with drum n bass. i think it should happen a lot more.

No shit. You don't need to play out the halfstep stuff just up the tempo at whatever point, proper steps any mix up when you step up to some neuro roller.

Halfstep d&b's been around for ages though, check Amit's album for the best examples.

Interesting to hear everyone's (mostly negative) opinions on something i thought was so great.

has everyone officially given up on dnb? i've been into dnb about the same amount of time i've being into dubstep, so maybe i haven't been around to experience all that sucks about dnb.

no, if you try a drum & bass forum you'll find you'll get the same sort of replies but they'll be slagging off the dubstep instead of dnb.

which is state of the dance music business in general these days. everyone's a dj, and a lot of them want to be "everything, all the time". the software makes it easier too. with so many dj's taking their itunes library and bpm'ing it.....you have to work really really really hard to stand out from the pack, when you choose to have everything in the kitchen sink in one set.

martyn and kode 9 , do it really well imo. they play nearly everything in one set, sometimes. music from 1960 to 2009.

fair play to them though. there's nothing wrong to playing everything. the point i'm making is that you have to work twice as hard to stand out, because there's literally thousands of dj's doing that sort of thing these days.

Interesting. the track didn't strike me as trying to be everything at once. i thought it worked well from a creative point of view. i think it sounds fresh.
