You can't beat The New Mastersounds.
They used to be called The Mastersounds.
Easily the best Funk band I've seen live.

If you want to hear something that funky with being a pastiche of funk, (which alot of funk outfits are), then try Clyde. The Commercial Break website recently reviewed his album.
