is this for breakfast or for dinner? peas and mash potatoes? eggs and bacon? kinda half way inbetween...Auan wrote:You haven't lived.unklefesta wrote:I never heard of a baconsteak, tbh
Served with either a fried egg or pineapple ring on top, with chips (big, meaty chips, not fries) or mashed potato, usually with peas as well. Along with Shepherd's pie, a ploughman's, and a beef hotpot, gammon steaks are the kind of food you can expect to be served in any pub older than 20 years in the whole of Britain.
And this guy just touched one.
looks good though, i'd eat it...somebody fed-ex me a plate...
please please please use the Search function. If everyone did, we'd have one mammoth thread about monitors with lots of useful advice, instead of millions of threads all over the shop.

Re: Help choosing monitors
Yeah its a JBL W15GTi MKII if you're interested. It has a great frequency response with the sealed enclosure I have, and although it is designed to be used in a car space I angle it into the corner of my room and it throws the bass out heavy! No-one can understand where the sound comes from (mainly because bass is non directional) but there is a sweetspot in my room which is in the floorspace juss behind where my decks are. It helps amplify the sub low frequencies between 20-80 hz which you wont get from speakers except club standards. I would love to have a funktion1 system lol but that would be crazy. My friend Milo who built and owns the R:EVOLVE soundsystem has his 2-3k rig in his "bass"ment and its sounding awesome.fliPPo wrote:welcome to the forum mate.lkewis wrote:I am currently using standard speakers, but have a 15" car sub which is VERY loud and covers the sub low frequencies well, and I need the monitors for clearer sound of the mids and treble.
I'm no expert and I certainly don't have good monitors myself, But spending money on high end monitors and then ruining them with a 15" car sub that's just going to make random earthquake noises is not a good idea IMO. Every 15" car sub I've ever heard is clearly designed to make predestrians stop and look around, not acuratly replicate bass. Maybe you've got some crazy high end sub that's worth shitloads and actually is quality though! do you?

It completely depends on your budget.
Both of us have Mackie Tapco S8 monitors & for the £250 - £280 they're retailing for, I'd say you'd be hard pushed to get better.
They're obviously not quite up to the Mackie 824's high standards, but they definitely offer sound quality approaching that of the 824s but for a great price.
I sound like I work for them, I know

I use the Tapco S8s too - very happy with them. Nice that you can alter the treble and bass level output to work best with the room they're in.
I also have Dynaudio BM5s with a Hafler amp which were twice the price, but I only really use the S8s now.
As Sonic Trauma said, depends on budget though. Mackies if you have the dough, Tapcos if you don't, imo.

I've never met a pair of Mackies that I've liked.CRYPTIC wrote:How comes? The experience i have had with them has been tip top.two oh one wrote:Erm, it's kind of not...CRYPTIC wrote:Its all about the mackies
Please enlighten me
I nearly bought a pair HR624s until they demoed the BM5As next to them and the difference was simply amazing.
The Mackies sounded like somebody had tried to make a pair of monitor speakers from dirty laundry in comparison. Woolly, fuzzy jumpers.

Hamsteaks indeed! ha ha!
i use Samson rubicon 5a's.
Won awards two years runnin for best monitor in there range.
They go for about 260 a pair.
If they sound a lil cheap the 6a's pack just as much clarity.
