Dear Helium101, let me introduce you to an age old DSF tradition...

Image

If you actually read the list of links in the original post, you would have seen http://www.dubstepforum.com/tips-on-sta ... 51534.html which explains exactly what you need to know.

We can't recommend a program for you as each program suits different people depending on their knowledge level, production goals and workflow preferences.
Download the demos of all the software you are interested in and give them a try. You'll quickly know for yourself which programs you want to invest time and money in. (There is a list of popular DAWs in the first link I've provided in this response).

For future reference, use the search button or the custom DSF search in my signature strip before asking questions. If you don't, people will post pictures of Alpacas instead of answering your questions...

Good luck!

Patrick :)

I'm really happy that you've decided to pursue music production, I suppose that's why we're all here.

But there are certain netiquette rules that may be useful to learn about as well as music production techniques. These will help you garner a more positive response from less patient souls online.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Netiquette
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internet_forum

The rules of the production subforum on Dubstepforum.com (See rule 1 in particular and heed it...)
The general rules of Dubstepforum.com

After you've familiarised yourself with those, post your track in one of the following threads for feedback.

Feedback thread for musical works in progress.
Feedback thread for completed tracks.

Looks like a lot of the links are broken. Just click the link and copy the numbers after the t in the address bar and click back, then paste the numbers after the t-xxxxxxx from this thread and it'll put you through till the links are edited.
Also bigup on the effort put into this for people starting out/looking for more info. Great resource for information!!

Just wanted to post here that due to the recent changes in the site (updated forum or .thaccess rules), none of these links work anymore.

Some links work and some dont. If the link is viewtopic it will work:
http://www.dubstepforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=159713

But if its got the title name in the link it won't:
http://www.dubstepforum.com/tutorial-fi ... 33155.html

Just a case of taking the 7 numbers at the end and throwing them onto a viewtopic link to make them work again.

Blurgh, that sounds time consuming.... :(

Maybe the site admin will sort out the issue so it isn't necessary to change all the links by hand?

Thanks for the info. :)

They've clearly updated the software but either forgotten a plugin to reinstall, or removed some server htaccess rules (or both). In any case, if you can get ahold of the admins that's definitely the best bet. The resource is useless without working links =\
